Prevent Worm and Virus Infections
- DO NOT open e-mail attachments without first checking them for a worm/virus. If the attachment is from someone you know and trust, run it through your updated anti-virus software first anyway.
- Use anti-virus software that provides protection for e-mail and your browser. Norton Anti-Virus and Trend Micro do.
- Keep your anti-virus definition or dat files up to date.
- Check anti-virus sites regularly for alerts to new threats. Making one of the anti-virus sites your browser's home page will help keep you informed of new threats.
- Check Microsoft's Security site regularly for bulletins. Install any tried-and-tested patches.
