Information on Virus Threats

& Anti-Virus Resources
(Updated 4-30-2002)

I laugh when I hear the News Stations on Television inform us of a new virus threat.  The advice they give us is absurd!  Do not open attachments from people you do not know!  Are they crazy?

A large number of the virus in the wild today use the victims address book in order to propagate.  That means if someone you know has your email address in their address book and they catch one of those virus that use their address book to propagate - you will receive an email (with a virus) from someone that you know!!!

Think about that for a moment.  You have done everything you are supposed to do to keep your defenses up against the rogue code and someone you know that has not applied the same efforts infects your system with a virus.

My advice; do not open attachments from anyone!  And when you send email, place your attachment text inline. That means you should copy and paste the information of your attachment directly into the email you are sending.

Stay informed - this is a never ending battle we must all fight.

Spread the word to any of your Internet-connected friends, relatives, and associates who might not know about these Virus Threats.
